Analysis: Roy's Adaptation Model

The concepts of this Roy adaptation model are theoretically defined by giving importance to a word in the framework of a theory thus allowing the reader to judge the legitimacy of the meaning. The relational statements related to physiologic-physical, self-concept, role function and interdependence modes are theoretically defined because of their generally descriptive nature in terms of explaining or understanding. The theoretical linkages entailed in the concepts and statements are partially explicit as a means of providing a rational account of the variables in the theory and their joining to each other do make the theory believable. The theory is logically organized in nature, comparatively simple nevertheless can be generalized and suitable as the foundation for the hypotheses that can be tested. There is a diagrammatic representation of the human adaptation systems composed of four adaptive modes that form the particular sections composing the background for valuation. As stated by Wills, (2011) “responses to and interaction with the client’s environment are carried out and adaptation can be observed.” Concepts, statements,
and assumptions are used consistently and prodigiously. The systems and structures are all-inclusive and complete thus allowing for patient practicality resulting in more focus on nursing interventions. Nursing assessment implements the given stimuli based on the patient’s response and the coping processes. The patient is directed by the use of the four adaptive modes and the efficacy of subsystems is taken of value.
Outcomes and consequences can be stated by examining the report that since the 1970’s, 163 studies have been accomplished utilizing the adaptation model (Boston Based Adaptation Research in Nursing
Society, 1999).
